IT'S DECEMBER!!!

Oke, i know it's been a really long time since i've blogged and i'm sorry! :-) since the last blog, i've been to Germany, the Netherlands and back! The trip with my grandpa was INCREDIBLE and we had a FABULOUS time...it was amazing. We flew into Dusseldorf and stayed in Germany for a few days. We then took a train to Maastricht, Netherlands (the oldest Dutch town in the Netherlands) and we stayed there for 2 days until our friends, the Hendrix's, picked us up. Maastricht was BEAUTIFUL and by far my favorite city we were in. The Maas river runs through the middle of it and the whole town was decorated for Christmas already...quite beautiful! Niek and Marian came and picked us up and we stayed with them for the rest of the trip. They have an AMAZING house in Opsel and we felt immediately at home with them. (it helped me that they had a black lab "Tommie" who was an instant good friend :-) The whole reason of the trip was for a monument dedication for a man in my grandpa's WWII war division who was killed in an accident in Raansdal. (Richard Knott) The unveiling of the plaque/dedication was on Thursday (27th) and grandpa was the person who unveiled the monument. It was a touching ceremony and the whole day went perfectly. Through the duration of the trip, Niek and Marian took us to numberous places including Overloon, Raansdal, Meijel, Liesel and Gilze were we visited our old friend Hans Hansen and his wife Angeline. We went to Margraten cemetery, Niek's other monuments, we saw MANY windmills and above all..Marian and i got to SHOP! :-)
Overall, the trip was fantastic. I ate the best food in history from Balkenbrei with applestroop, panakoek's, bitterballs to friekendelen. The company was even better and it was VERY hard to leave. I can't wait to see them again this spring!! :-) Here's some pictures from the trip...
